A Few Words from One of Our Families

Every now and again, we receive heartfelt words of praise from the family members of our residents. Maybe it’s a nice online review or a little card saying that we made a difference. In this case, a family took the time to share with us a letter of appreciation for all that we did for their loved one.

For us, caring for the older adults in our community comes naturally. We wake up wanting to come to work because the relationships we build and the care we provide give us intrinsic value and makes our residents and the families we serve happy. It’s as simple as that.

Today, we thought we’d share this letter that gave our team pause. It allowed us to reflect on the lifetime impact our everyday work can have on the individuals in our care and guidance. Thank you, to this family, for entrusting their mothers care to us. We loved having her here as part of our community.

In the spirit of confidentiality, we have withheld the resident and family’s names.

Janet Breed and the entire staff of WinnPrairie Assisted Living,

This is a difficult letter for me to write, and I am not even sure where to begin. In February it became evident that Mom would not be able to return home alter a serious medical event had occurred. Mom was needing assistance for her daily living routine and we were needing to find a home that could provide for her a great environment and personal care to help her. We selected WinnPrairie and little did we know what a great selection that would turn out to be.

Now, more than two-and-one-half years later, it is time for another transition for mom. This has been a very difficult decision to make, yet it is necessary. Mom will be moving to be closer to family to allow us to visit more frequently and to allow her to more easily take part in family and other social gatherings.

When mom became a resident of WinnPrairie, little did any of us know what the future would hold. Yet, the staff of WinnPrairie stepped up to meet the new and never previously experienced challenges that had now been placed upon them and did so with compassion and professionalism. We are so grateful!

WinnPrairie has not just been a facility for mom to live out her remaining season of life, it has been and always will be her family. The staff of WinnPrairie at every level has exceeded our expectations for her living environment and personal care. One could only hope that one day when we might be in need of assistance that it would be at the level that has been afforded to her at WinnPrairie. We are so grateful!

Please always remember that every little thing that you do matters. Everything! For the resident and their family, it is extremely meaningful to have a well-kept facility and personal loving care provided each and every day. We understand that this is not an easy endeavor as each resident has their own personal needs and desires and as a staff that can be a daunting challenge. But the staff of WinnPrairie has fulfilled this at every level. We are so grateful!

If I were sure that I would not miss anyone, I would name each of you individually and thank you personally for all the love, care and patience that you have provided for mom and our family. Everything you have done is appreciated. I, (we) are so grateful!

As life for all of us moves forward, and today none of us knows what might be coming our way next, choose to keep Jesus at the center of it all as he is the unchanging foundation that is rock solid and can always be trusted. For this, we are so grateful!

May each of you be blessed for who you are and all you have and will do.
